Kaiti Elliott is a Multi-Certified Equine Therapist
Free to Be Equine takes a whole-horse approach to restore and enrich equine wellness - mind, body, and spirit.
Horse stewards and riders seek Kaiti’s services to help horses navigate physical and emotional challenges, to promote a horse-centered lifestyle, and to foster a harmonious relationship between horse and human partners.
By addressing their physical and mental wellness through both restorative and preventative methods, Kaiti’s approach with horses goes beyond typical bodywork. Her main goal is to build a trusting relationship with you - and with your horse - to help you achieve your goals in your partnership, and allow your horse to feel their best.
Kaiti specializes in horses struggling with emotional regulation, those resistant to touch or traditional bodywork, or those labeled “quirky”, “puzzling”, or “difficult”. However, all horses, regardless of age, breed, or workload, benefit from her work. They don’t need a “problem” or a hard-working lifestyle to gain from Kaiti’s manual therapy skills and deep understanding of equine needs.
Kaiti is passionate about equine welfare. She has pursued extensive education and multiple certifications, with a focus on myofascial and craniosacral therapies aligned with osteopathic principles and nervous system balance.
Osteopathy views the body as an interconnected system where every muscle, joint, nerve, and organ work together. Instead of only treating symptoms, osteopathy seeks root causes of discomfort and dysfunction. In equine bodywork, this means assessing not only muscle tension and joint restrictions, but also biomechanics, posture, circulation, nervous system function, digestion, lifestyle, and emotional wellness. This holistic approach leads to more effective, lasting results, individually tailored to the needs of each horse.
Our horses deserve:
Freedom, confidence, and comfort in movement - in work, and in play.
A resilient nervous and musculoskeletal system.
Healthy musculature and fitness.
To access their full range of motion with ease.
To feel seen, understood, and respected.
To exercise their autonomy, enjoy touch, and look forward to their time with their human partners.
All horses, even if they are not ridden, rely on us as their stewards to facilitate these positive outcomes for them. Addressing their physical and emotional needs ensures their overall wellness as highly sensitive, social beings - in their interactions with people, as well as within their environment.
Equine bodywork relieves tension, restrictions, and imbalances in the body, improving range of motion and reducing strain on muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and joints. By activating new motor patterns and restoring freedom of movement, bodywork enhances posture and biomechanics. However, through experience Kaiti has found that deeper exploration is often necessary.
“Do you feel like you’ve checked off all of the boxes, but your instincts tell you that your horse still isn’t feeling their best? This approach may be the missing piece.”
Kaiti’s equine therapy expertise, decades of horse care experience, intuition and discernment, and commitment to continued learning, create a gentle yet profound approach that unwinds deep layers of physical and emotional imbalances in horses.

Kaiti’s approach integrates deeply with the nervous system, which controls movement, bodily functions, emotional well-being, and can store pain and trauma. By addressing the entire neuro-musculoskeletal system, Kaiti honours and supports the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual being of the horse. She works with myofascial and craniosacral therapies, proprioceptive and somatic techniques, nerve release, massage, energetics and communication, and postural and movement exercises. She also incorporates red/infrared light therapy, stability pads, and equine kinesiology tape as needed.
What makes Kaiti different?
Experience and compassion guide Kaiti to address root causes of discomfort and dysfunction, while prioritizing trust with each horse.
“Horses should never be rushed through or forced to participate in bodywork sessions. A trusting horse who feels safe, seen, and understood will reap the greatest benefits.”
Her blend of intuition, compassion, education, and hands-on experience sets her apart. Since earning her first equine therapy certification in 2015, Kaiti has continuously expanded her knowledge in equine anatomy, physiology, behaviour, welfare, and therapeutic techniques. With over 20 years experience in equine care and a decade running Free to Be Equine Services, Kaiti is dedicated to ongoing education and professionalism in the industry.
Kaiti understands that bodywork is not a quick fix; lasting change requires a horse-centered lifestyle, nervous system regulation, and creating a safe space for horses to feel seen and understood. Her approach respects each horse as an individual, recognizing that what works for one may not work for another. Kaiti knows that effective bodywork is not done TO the horse, but WITH the horse, prioritizing their autonomy in each session.
By blending scientific method with intuition and energy, Kaiti provides an approach that goes beyond traditional bodywork. Kaiti’s work with horses is a marriage of discernment and intuition; of anatomical understanding and observation of the mysterious.
Kaiti values collaboration with other equine professionals on your horse’s care team, ensuring a holistic approach to horse wellness. Kaiti also believes in empowering others by sharing her skills and knowledge - both with the horse owners that she works with, as well as through education and mentorship with other equine therapists and bodyworkers.
Kaiti prioritizes working with dedicated horse stewards who seek compassionate interaction with their equine partners and long-term solutions for their horse’s wellness. If this resonates with you, Kaiti would love to work with you and your horse!
“Blending science and spirit is what allows the unwinding of chronic tension patterns and the restoration of whole-horse well-being to occur.”
